Hi all, sorry I've been away once again. Hopefully you've managed to hear a few of 2022's Introversion podcast episodes... despite me not being active on Locals.
I really am so glad that you have decided to be part of this burgeoning little Locals community, and I apologize for not posting more here, as I've just been underwater with so many life things (some bad things, but also some good). All that being said, I want to remedy this... and I think it starts with me spending less time on Facebook and more time here.
I've realized Facebook has been pretty much the only social media platform I turn to in order to have social interaction with actual human beings (I haven't really been using Twitter any more, or Instagram, or Pinterest, or Tumblr, or TikTok, or pretty much anything else.) But... the FB experience has been wholly unsatisfying. Because it's basically just the same 3-5 people who ever like/comment on anything I post. But those are also the same 3-5 people who I text with every day anyway, so it's kinda like... what's the point of even posting on FB? I guess I am shadowbanned to hell there... or perhaps also that the people in my FB social network really don't care to hear anything I have to say or see anything that I post. Either way, regardless... it's felt pointless.
So... here's to the Local experience becoming a better platform to express myself, in many nuanced ways (and of course, totally uncensored). I want to give this a proper go, although at the same time, only active supporters can join the conversation. I totally get how those reading this may not want to pay to be part of this Locals community while I've been neglecting it... I totally get that... but as I start to post more and more here in the coming months... I hope that you'll come to see the value in being here, and that we can all enjoy connecting more deeply with each other, apart from algorithms that would keep us apart.
So anyway, yeah... I'm back. And I'm going to challenge myself to make this my de facto platform of choice over Facebook. Much much more to come... both serious and light, big news and small deets... so stay tuned friends. 🙂
Yours truly,
Jay Kaslo

Do you remember a time when "liberal" and "conservative" were not considered pejorative terms?
I feel like there was more of a spectrum before, and each of us would lie somewhere on that spectrum, a blend of both conservative and liberal value judgments, depending on the specific issue.
